Porter's 9th B-day

So I'm finally back to my blog ... seems to be a feast or famine type thing with me, and just in time for my wonderful nine-year-old's b-day (actually the big day really occurred in september but we'll just pretend this is up to date).

We started the day with a tradition that I recently borrowed from some wonderful friends. It's called ... the decorated door. Ooooh. Seriously, though, it was a fun thing for him to wake up to, especially since the idea is new in our family. We actually have some cousins who sneak into their birthday child's room at night and decorate the whole thing with the child slumbering away. I think that would be so much fun, but for now, getting the door decorated was challenging enough. Baby steps. Here's my handsome (I keep wanting to say adorable) boy, eating his requested birthday meal: homemade mac'n cheese. Mmmm.
And here come the presents ...

Apparently little sister gave him something wonderful. although I currently can't remember what it was (that's what happens when you attempt to journal something two+ months after the fact. Oops!)
Loving the sleek new jacket ... Aw, he looks so grown up.
Checking out the new Boogie DS game. Billy-Bob teeth ... Hi Grandma and Glenn. How ya doing back there?
This is obviously not of Porter, but I thought Heidi and Brooks looked so cute together, I couldn't resist.
New X-box 360. A little much for a 9-year-old b-day you might say? More of an early Christmas present for the whole fam. (or more accurately the male demographic) from G-ma/G-pa Dueck. Grandparents are the best!
What's a b-day without cake!

Eat cake? Play DS in 3D?
I'd definitely go for the cake, but obviously the choice is not so simple for a 9-year-old boy.
Happy B-day Porter. Thanks for being such a great boy.

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010
