What's summertime without family reunions, right? Well, unfortunately we missed two family reunions this year that we really wanted to attend! But, we were able to make it to my grandma's (my mom's mom's) 80th birthday and simultaneous family reunion. The birthday party/reunion consisted of a fun-filled June day at my brother's place in Eastern Oregon, complete with swimming, horseback riding, four wheeling, picture taking, and quite a bit of eating.
Of course, for some reason we always like to make things as crazy as possible. In the case of this trip, we drove all afternoon/evening, approximately 9 hours give or take, and arrived at a local hotel around 11:00 at night. No surprise, the first hotel we pulled into did not have a room available for two adults and four kids, nor did the second or third. By the fourth hotel, we found a room with three doubles--perfect for us!--and were finally able to hit the sack.
The next morning we got up and headed over to visit with the fam, which was very nice, and by early that evening we were back on the road. 1:00am found us finally pulling into our driveway--Yawn--just in time to get a few hours of sleep before church the next morning, where I was trying to finish up with last-minute announcements and to dos before leaving for girls camp early the next morning to be gone for the entire week. Sigh. I'm tired just thinking about it.
