utah family trip (may 2015)

While the boys were at camp, Mae, Brooks, Joseph, and I had a way super duper fun time hanging out with all the fam!!

We went to church with Grandma and played at Allison's house.

The kids went crazy with cousins!!

Mae even got to go to school one whole day with Lizzie & Alexis:-).

Joseph and Kent were two peas in one giant super hero pod!!

We made sure to take a field trip to Color Me Mine, where we picked out and painted our own little clay figures. Brooks chose a cool "origami" crane and made the best of a mostly girl's day out;).

So fun!

We also visited the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium (http://www.thelivingplanet.com) which was way super cool!

The interactive film was pretty darn fun.

As were the abundance of odd fish of all shapes and sizes!!

Of course, the best part was being with Grandma and cousins, although poking around in the gift shop wasn't too shabby either:-).

Memorial Day was the boys final day at camp; after which, they happily joined the party!!

We couldn't resist playing with g-ma's new selfie stick.

And of course babying little puppy Penny!

One definite highlight of the trip was a visit to the amazing Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point (https://www.thanksgivingpoint.org/visit/ashtongardens).

We rented golf carts.

And a couple of segways for Kevin and Ryan.

It was a beautiful day.

And the gardens were truly amazing!

Which means we took tons ...

And tons ...

And tons ...

Of pictures!!!!!

At the end, the kids got aunt lollipops--eww!

And we headed off to continue our never-ending fun somewhere else.

Another highlight was definitely swimming in g-ma's community pool (that had just recently opened for the year).

Fortunately, the weather was reasonably warm which made for some good, refreshing swimming.

One evening, we had a great time watching an outdoor movie in Jamie and Ryan's backyard. Thanks for hosting us, guys!!

Kevin and Ryan of course managed to fit in a hike--wouldn't be a proper vacation without one;).

And we all (including Great Grandma Porter) managed to fit in lots of delicious foods and treats--like some yummy shaved ice!!!

Of course, cousin time continued on for the course of the trip.
One day the kids even managed to find a snake in Aunt Ali's neighborhood.
James didn't waste any time in scooping that thing right up ...

And passing it around for a brief show-n-tell.

Another highlight (there were sooo many) was going to Pizza Pie Cafe with the family for Darren and Heidi's baby gender unveiling:). Aren't they cute?!! Love these two.

In addition to pizza, we enjoyed some delicious pink cookies to usher in little baby Abbie's upcoming arrival.

Towards the end of our trip we ventured out to the Museum of Natural Curiosity (I'm getting exhausted looking at everything we did!) also at Thanksgiving Point (https://thanksgivingpoint.org/visit/museumofnaturalcuriosity).

The ropes course was a lot of fun.

As was the jungle-gym type play area.

All of the hands-on exploration exhibits were also super cool.

Like the water, sand, and wind area.

And the money exchange, trading post, theatrical stage ...

etc. etc. etc.

I think we finished off in the recording studio (this may have been Kevin's favorite:).

Before heading to the outdoor play area--also a lot of fun!

What a great day of satisfying curiosity!!

Even though the older boys had already spent the weekend at BYU, we couldn't leave town until making a visit as a family. We didn't stay too long, but did manage to eat a little ice cream ...

And do a little bowling, before heading off to the next adventure.

Which in this case happened to be Lowe's Xtreme Airports right there in Provo (http://www.lowesairsports.com/home-1.html). I have to say, I think this topped the list for our kids as one of the favorite trip activities.

It was just a really relaxed, family-friendly environment, with lots of space to move around and have fun!!

And then, before we knew it, we were piling back into the car and heading for home.

Finishing off the entire road trip with a brief stop in Idaho to visit Great Grandma Betty and Aunt Peggy:-)!!

Oh my, what fun!! We had such a great time together and with extended family, and basked in the much-needed break from hectic every-day life. Hooray for vacations!
