hockey love (november 2015)

During the past year or so Kevin and I decided that we're kinda done with buying lots of things for our kids (plus they're growing out of the toy stage), and that we want to focus our time and money more on family activities. I'm sure I'll be blogging about a few of those activities (outings really) in the coming posts. I think the one, though, that stands out as a favorite for pretty much everyone in the family, was the Thunderbirds Hockey game we attended in November 2015 at the ShoWare Center in Kent, WA.

First of all, I love the ShoWare Center because (like the theater I mentioned in a previous post), it's small enough that mostly every seat is a decent one. There really is a huge difference in the entire experience of viewing an event from way far back or being even somewhat closer up!! But aside from that, they Thunderbird game was just super entertaining! There is a fun and energetic vibe, fans are loud but not terribly obnoxious (or at least where we were sitting this was the case), and it turns out hockey is just plain cool to watch!! Oh, and the fact that tickets prices are reasonable makes it waay more appealing (and doable) for a big family. In this case, we all got free hats as well as part of a Boy Scout promotion.

Anyway, our pics really didn't turn out great, but here are a few decent ones ...

Me and Joe enjoying the game.

G-ma Loo and Brooks.
(Lady Loo was still recovering from her hip surgery, so we were happy she was able to join us!)

Somewhat blurry group shot (notice we're all dressed warm!!).

Mr Daddy-O and the lovely Miss Mae!

And Porter and James of course!!

I had forgotten about this, but there happened to be a brief power outage during the game. Spectators held up phones and used flashlight apps to give a little extra light until the power was back on. Of course, the players couldn't really play like this, so fortunately the power was back up and running pretty quickly!

Until the 2016 season!!

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010
