great wolf lodge

Look at this sad and sick child. Poor baby!:( Grandma and Grandpa Jacobs gave our family a combined b-day/Christmas gift this year of a night at the Great Wolf Lodge, and this was Little J on the first day of our trip.

Seriously, the poor kid looks awful, but at least he has such a nice care taker--Mae is a fantastic little momma!

We hadn't ever been before and didn't really know what to expect, but we had a really great time!

We opted for one of the Kid Cabin Suites and it was perfect. As soon as you entered the room it had a bathroom, and then this little inset room with smallish bunk beds on one side ...

--Porter lounging on the lower bunk--

And a daybed on the other side (notice James' legs hanging over the side), not to mention the kids' own tv--which they quite enjoyed. Big surprise:).

Then, on the opposite side of the "cabin" wall, was a regular bed and also a couch/pull-out bed. Perfect!

Hi, Brooks.

We spent a good part of the day we arrived, as well as a few hours the following day, at the attached water park--the main attraction. I loved it because it was big enough to have lots of fun slides and pools, but small enough that I felt totally fine letting my oldest three venture off together.

Porter and Brooks loved the wave pool; actually they all did!

Joseph was feeling much better the second day!

Although he wasn't so sure about the temperature of the water--they keep the park itself pretty warm but I thought the water temperature was lacking. And actually my only real complaint is that the kiddie pool section should be much warmer!!

The other great thing about the lodge is that there's lots of other fun stuff to do as well.

Mae had fun in the craft room.

So did Joseph, but for a different reason.

Everyone loved the arcade!

Porter hit the jackpot with his studly jumping skills.

And Joseph decided on a career in the ice cream truck industry.

Or flying pod racers on Tatooine with his big bro. (yeah, so we're Star Wars nerds).

Brooks could hardly wait to buy a wand and do some magi-questing.

Of course all his siblings wanted to help.

And then it was time to say goodbye

Overall, a great place for a quick getaway. However, it is kinda expensive. The room isn't so bad, considering all water park admission is included, but the food and extra activities are all on the spendy side. I would probably save my money and opt out if I was planning another big vacation that year, and go here on a year with not much happening. Just a thought.

Thanks, Grams & Gramps. It was a perfect gift!!
