Last year it was Ocean Shores along the Washington coast, this year Camp Zarahemla outside of Naches, WA. I say "outside", but in actuality (despite the Naches address) it is really far far above Naches--way up in Mt. Rainier. An important fact to be aware of when packing, as of course it is much much cooler up in the mountains! Not that I led everyone astray advertising Naches' 94 degree forecast;).
This is our 2nd annual weekend trip with my mom, my "little" family, and my sister's family. We would love for my brother and other sister to come too! But they don't live so close.
Camp Zarahemla (an lds church-owned camp) was completely gorgeous!! As was the lake (Clear Lake, I think) that it borders.
The camp area was wide open and filled with beautiful trees.

The soft walled tents we rented were very spacious (and reduced set up time significantly). They were, however, open at the bottom so we did have some occasional small furry visitors.

Cute boy. Playin' it safe I guess with the life jacket.

I suppose the long pointy stick is also just a precaution;).

Gorgeous lake right by our campsite.

Gorgeous daddy (and almost-two-year-old) as well.

Cookin' up some, uh, somethin'.

Mealtime.

And bed/reading time. Can you guess who the child is with the book?!

Oh, yeah. Now I remember why Joseph was constantly sporting a life jacket-- it doubled as a halter, which the kids loved!

Getting crafty!

Look at that gorgeous sun!

Me in the kids (well, some of them anyway) in the raft. When someone tells you your toosh won't get soaking wet in one of these things, don't believe them!! It will. In this case by FREEZING cold lake water.

Fun times in the canoe.

And on the rope swing. Although, most of the kids were just swinging back and forth and never actually let go. Reason being: the water was seriously so cold--literally like melted snow. It is a mountain lake after all.

Brain freeze. Really!

Recovered enough for a smile.

Of course Kevin found time for a quick hike with Eric and the boys. It's hard to tell in the picture, but they found some really pretty flowers by a waterfall (behind Carter).

Nice view. Tired boys.

And back to the lake.

Boating was definitely the favorite pastime of the weekend!

Now in the paddle boat.

With the grams herself.

Even Joseph tried to get in on the boating action.

And the other favorite pastime (primarily with Gracie and Mae) ... The stage.

Dancing on the stage, singing on the stage, being silly on the stage ...

... and sometimes just sitting on the stage, being cute cousins.

What a gorgeous camp and a fun weekend. Until next year ... wonder where we'll go this time!??
