lake adelaide

Does it seem like we do a lot of camping, hiking, and fishing posts around here? That's because we do! A LOT. Especially in the summertime.

So watch out because here comes another one ...

I should really title this post "off-roading" or "bush whacking" or something more exciting, because that's exactly what K, Papa D, and big R (who flew in from Utah just for this trip) were doing in an effort to get in and out of their chosen camping and fishing spot. They took a few short videos of the "drive" in and it really was pretty amazing. Sounds like they thought they might tip, or ruin the vehicle, or do somethin' crazy, at least a time or two. Guys!

This is the beauty they were using to maneuver the rocks, dips, and stumps.

And this is them gearing up for the bush whacking.

Heading into the bush whacking.

And in the process of bush whacking for the next couple miles!

When not bush whacking, they were climbing up some pretty steep & grueling slopes!

Beautiful area. But I hear it was quite the challenging hike. I'm sure the heavy packs and requirement to carve their own trail added to the element of difficulty. The lengths that die-hard fisherman will go to!!

But finally they arrived--pretty exhausted and out of water I'm told--and quickly hydrated and crashed for the night.

But all is well in the morning.

Particularly when you're a few guys with no distractions, and a lake full of fish at your toes.

And the fishing begins.  This is K out in his little float tube, with fins, waders and all that fishing gear he dragged up the mountain!

But...plenty of beautiful and large fish to be caught

And then to eat. Yum.

And nothing but peace and quiet (with the exception of Bigfoot's occasional wailing--yes, they really had an experience, but you'll have to ask them;). Although, I'm sure they could have used a little more--peace and quiet, that is.

And on towards home.

I don't know. Not sure I would be up for this one. They must have enjoyed it though, because they came home already talking about next year.

Guys! (Did I already say that??:)

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November.
