Amazing Men, Amazing Dads

It's no secret that I'm a little behind in my blogging, and here is yet another event that actually took place nearing a couple of months ago ... Father's Day!

We came cruising back from a family reunion late the night before, but still managed to have a little fun on Dad's big day. The kids and I made candy-bar posters and invited the grandpas over for dinner ... in hopes that they would share some of their candy with us, which of course they did.

I was searching online for a really exemplary quote or poem to honor these exemplary fathers, but nothing seemed to do justice. They're just too amazing! It's incredible to see men in our selfish society sacrifice everything for family. Giving up pretty cars for swing sets and sand boxes, gym passes for swim lessons, golf games for chaotic campouts, and any moment of relaxation for the needs of children, family, and society. And the truly exemplary part ... they don't even blink an eye.

My amazing man! The father of my soon-to-be five beautiful children.
(notice Mae's dress ... it was mine when I was about her age)
Seriously, who could want more than this anyway?;)
And the other amazing men in our family!
You guys are awesome!

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
