General Conference Weekend (Oct. 2010)

Oh how we look forward to General Conference each spring and fall! It is all good things packed into two quick days... the savor of great food, the warmth of family, the comfort of home, and the rejuvenation of our spirits.

What a privilege to have the amazing opportunity to listen to, and learn from, inspired men and women on God's perfect errand. And this most recent conference lived up to every expectation. For those without a clue as to what I'm talking about (General what??), video and text format of General Conference (an event twice yearly where we hear from the prophet, apostles, and other leaders from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) is available on lds.org.

I suppose my arms were delightfully full with our new little one, because I completely forgot to snap photos as we watched conference at our own home on Saturday. I did manage, though, to get a few while at Kevin's folks' home during the Sunday sessions.

Crepes and sausage. Mmmmmmm.
James can't get enough of this new little guy. Grandma, happy to have her grandkiddos in the house.
Excited for dinner ... maybe a little too excited.
Is James getting an early start on prayer?
Kevin cooking? I see it but I'm not sure I believe it.
Babies are bliss.

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
