Porter in Charge

Okay, I know I should be blogging about Christmas so I can finally get caught up with 2010, but I just can't help post these pictures that represent what happens when my incredibly bright, cartoon loving, book devouring oldest child gets left in charge of "babysitting".

I asked Porter to be in charge of Joseph the other day so I could quickly do something. The pictures below show the scene when I returned. Keep in mind that Joseph was on a blanket on the floor looking at his toys before I originally headed out of the room.

How ya doing over there, Joseph?
Why wouldn't a nine-year-old boy think his little baby brother would like to hang out on the sofa and watch some tv with him?? seems perfectly logical to me. The best part is that Joseph is having a great time. He doesn't mind that he's possibly been forgotten or that his current guardian is two, make that three places removed from him. He's just discovered that there are two funny flat things attached to the end of his person and they are pretty entertaining to wiggle around. To be a kid again!

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
