If I Only Had a Sister

Oh, how our little Mae longs for a sister. However, since she doesn't seem to be getting one in the fathomable future, she has a habit of creating her own. A couple of years back, when he was still a willing victim, she would dress up Brooks all the time in Princess gowns and ruffled swimsuits (pictures omitted for future embarrassment), now she has found an even more willing participant.

As she often does, she asked to have Joseph in her room a couple of months back while I helped Brooks get ready for bed. When I came in to find him, this is what I discovered ...

I could tell right away that something was different, but it actually took me a minute to pinpoint the source of my confusion ... What? my baby doesn't usually have a pink flower in his hair? The funny part is that he hardly even had hair at this point, but she managed to find a tiny little strip in order to fasten the adorable hair accessory. After I noticed the odd clip in his "hair", I started to notice other differences.

Wait a minute, that's not Joseph's shirt!
Finally I observed that Mae had put her excellent baby maneuvering skills to work in order to dress her patient little brother in her favorite "Daddy's Rock Star" attire.

Can you say, most patient baby in the world? Pretty patient sister as well, to put up with four brothers all the time;). Mae, you're amazing!

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
