trying out lacrosse

So neither Kevin nor I had ever played or even watched this strange sport called lacrosse before. But for some reason (now forgotten) we thought we'd-- that is, the boys--would give it a try this year. You know, just to see how they'd like it. But really, was their liking it ever even a question?! We're talking chest and shoulder pads, protective helmets, and big long sticks that one can use to block, push, hit, oh, and of course catch. We're talking fast and crazy, and physical enough to satisfy even James' fighting spirit. In short, Lacrosse has earned a spot alongside basketball as one our favorite sports! Yep, despite the 25 minute drive to practice (ugh!) i think we're hooked. Pretty sure this one is in for the long haul.

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! And to finish off April, we have ... Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it.
