good Texas friends

We were excited one evening in August to get to visit some good friends from our Houston days. It was a crazy and rushed evening ... Kevin left work a little early, we hauled our way north to Mukilteo, caught an evening ferry to Whidbey Island, drove to the part of the island where the wonderful Lewis family was staying (the island was gorgeous, btw), had a great time visiting and roasting s'mores and viewing the property and being amazed at how old all the kids had gotten and how long it had been since we last saw each other;), said goodbye, drove back to the ferry, and began the 2-hour plus haul back home.

The visit was definitely not long enough (don't know if we even had two hours to catch up), but it was well worth the excursion.

Love these guys. Such good times and good memories!

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! And to finish off April, we have ... Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it.
