daddy-daughter party, take 2 (or more;)

Some things in the Dueck family are just inevitable, like basketball and backpacking. With birthdays only six days apart, Kevin and Mae sharing a yearly b-day party is just one more of those things.

And this little beauty is a very good sport about it! But then, she's just good in general, about lots and lots of stuff!! One of the many things I love about her.

She's already busy planning next-year's friend party, but this year was just the fam.

She got lots of fun presents, like a cool speaker for listening to her music, an MP3 player, the Little Sweetshop book she'd had her eye on for some time, oh, and cold-hard cash--nice;)!!

Kev had already gotten a very early birthday present ... or two (e.g., his new sage fly fishing rod).

But he also got a couple of fun prizes ... a salmon fishing reel and Therma Rest camp mat.

And updated family pics for his desk at work.

Oh, and I guess I shouldn't forget his favorite cake--German chocolate.

What special, loving, talented, incredible people you two are. No wonder you kinda share a birthday:).

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
