Thanksgiving 2013

I love Thanksgiving. Definitely love all the delicious food--not gonna lie. But also love the traditions that go along with the holiday--Turkey bowl/trot, Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, black Friday ads, family & friends. And of course, I love the concept of giving thanks. The suggestion to ponder on the amazingly blessed lives we live (despite the trials). I am so incredibly grateful for the many opportunities, experiences, and blessings in my own life! Naming them all would be completely impossible, but at the top (alongside my family) would come faith. I feel very blessed for my own inward assurance that there is purpose in this life, and that no matter what happens everything will be okay. I think I grappled with this assurance a bit in the days following this post (or more accurately, the event that this post is based on), but as always, it held out and got me through.

More to come on that. For now, moving on to the pictures ...

Ward--church group--turkey bowl.
(this picture is somewhat bittersweet to me, but again, more on that later)

Happy to be able to spend such a great day with Kevin's wonderful mom. And very sad to be without his dad:(.

Kid table!
(despite the boys' tank tops and shorts, it is in fact a chilly November day outside)

Handsome turkey carver;).

My amazing lovely sister (one of them anyway)!

Promise, we did not coordinate our clothes on purpose.

Yum, yum. Time to eat!

One of my blessings!

Relaxing after dinner.

Cousins!

Turkey coma;).

Hanging out.

Apparently the coma was short lived!!

Can't waste too much time resting, when there's so many fun people to play with:-).

And, moving on ...

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

april 2018 misc.

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
