ross lake high adventure (august 2014)

I've realized I have to keep my posts extremely brief or I'm NEVER going to get caught up (you can't see it right now, but I'm pretty much in tears about STILL being almost a year-and-a-half behind).

So, that said ...

Here's the beautiful Ross Lake (North Cascades National Park)!!

Here are the boys (my older two, plus cousin P, and good buddy Ben) arriving at the lake.

Here are the boys canoeing on the lake (and to their campsites).

More canoeing.

Here are the boys setting up and hanging out around camp ...

Chopping wood and checking out the wildlife at camp ...

Messing around and posing at camp ...

Still posing at camp ...

Yep, more posing ...

Almost done here ...

Okay, and moving on, here are the boys fishing in the lake.

Happens to be one of the favorite pastimes for this trip!

Day fishing, night fishing--it's all good:)

Nice, boys!!

And of course, here are the boys swimming in the lake.

Planks, jumps, cannonballs, gainers, and whatever else they can come up with.

The lake is super freezing, hence the usefulness of shorties.
I don't think we passed on the shorty memo to poor cousin P, who ended up with nothin' but a GoPro for extra warmth;).

When the boys weren't canoeing, hanging around camp, fishing, or swimming, they just kinda messed around by the lake.
Cuz messing around is fun.

You know what else is fun (actually not fun at all, but kinda funny)?! Getting stuck in the bathroom for a spell. Yep.
It's pretty hard to see it, but if you look closely, cousin P's footprints are visible on the inside of the door from where he tried to muscle his way out of this thing.

Okay, and finally time for the boys to say goodbye to Ross Lake!!

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

april 2018 misc.

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
