teenager in the house--yikes! (september 2014)

Okay, so the weekend we returned from Hawaii, this amazing fantastic kid turned the big 13!! Meaning we officially now had a TEENAGER in the house. I don't know if this is way super exciting or entirely terrifying--but I guess I'll go with both:-).

We had an especially fun time celebrating as, in addition to the grandmas and auntie Jill's family,  Grandpa Jacobs happened to be up from Portland and Aunt Carrie was visiting from Japan!! Woohoo!!

It was awesome to be together celebrating this great day:).

The new teenager got some fun b-day gifts--crazy teeth, a cool book, a magnetic toy that K and I brought back from Hawaii, a Seahawks hat, and more!

We also had a tasty time eating a very thoughtful cake that the other kiddos made for him--in case it's not obvious, it's a book cake. Perfect for Porter!!

After the indoor fun, the kids all had a wacky and wild time out on the trampoline--must have been a beautiful Fall day.

And then some of us hung out at the park for a bit, staying warm in our blankies and watching one of the girls' theatrical/sporty performances.

Fun fun times being together and celebrating a great b-day for a great kid!!

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
