wrestling 2015

I'm guessing I've probably mentioned before that we're kind of a wrestling family. We traded cold, wet fields (not my favorite) for cramped, sweaty gyms (still not exactly my favorite, but definitely better) long ago and have really enjoyed our adventure into the world of wrestling.

No time for big details, but it has been a great sport for our boys and we've really enjoyed them working hard, enjoying some great wins, and picking themselves up after a tough loss.

2015 was a great year for both Porter and James (don't seem to have made it out with pictures of the "youngers" so P and J are the only ones making an appearance here).

Porter was too old to participate with our club team, but won district champion for his school!

James also dominated at school (although, as a 6th grader, was unable to compete on varsity or for a district championship).
He also did amazing on his club team (which is a much higher level of competition), and went all the way to districts! Many of the other competitors do year-round wrestling--which we've opted out of--so get a lot more experience/coaching. That said, James didn't get as high as he would have liked on the podium, but wrestled hard and did an amazing job!!

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

april 2018 misc.

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
