scout camp (august 2015)

I'm not going to say much about this one, as of course I wasn't actually there myself and probably could not do justice to the crazy, dirty, smelly, and fun experience.

Here's what I do know:

These boys left on a Monday morning at the crack of dawn.

They shot rifles.

They messed around like a bunch of pre-teen/teen boys.

They ate a TON of food.

They swam (not to mention kayaked, canoed, and learned life-saving skills) in the Sound.

They played poker at night in their cabin (which could be against the rules, so mum's the word)

They did group huddles (or something).

They took a lot of goofy pictures.

And finally, they enjoyed a beautiful week at Camp Parsons Boy Scouts Camp!!

Oh, did I mention goofy pictures (I think James' stomach is full of enormous amounts of soda).

Oops, I forgot to mention that they completed a bunch of merit badges as well--that's kinda an important part of camp, right?!

And beyond all that, I really don't want to know;).

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! And to finish off April, we have ... Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ...
