dad & porter conference trip

Okay, so we are kinda a religious family:-). Not that this is a surprise to anyone. We are Mormons (officially members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints--long name, I know!!), and the center/headquarters for the Mormon church is in Salt Lake City, UT. Utah is also where a lot of our family lives and where Kevin and I attended college (BYU) and met/married.

Long story short, Utah has a lot of meaning for us!

That said, we started a tradition when Porter turned 12 that each of the kids would get to go on a special trip (the boys with K and Mae with me) to Utah for that special birthday (in our church 12 is when they transition from "Primary"--kids group--to "Young Men"/"Young Women"--youth group). The plan would be to visit Temple Square,  attend at least one session of General Conference (where we hear from our church leaders), maybe visit BYU campus, and of course hang out with family!!

So here is Porter & K's trip from the first weekend in October 2013.

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

april 2018 misc.

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
