turning "12" tradition!!

James turned 12 in April 2015, which meant (in sticking with our new-ish family tradition) he would get his very own weekend trip with Kevin to visit SLC, Utah for our church's semi-annual general conference. Kevin and James were both definitely excited to spend the time together!

They had a good time hanging out and playing games in the airport/airplane.

Once in Utah, they spent time with family!

Eating out ...

Watching parts of Conference at Grandma's house ...

They also spent time down at BYU (our alma mater)!
Hiking the Y, bowling at the Canyon Center, and indulging in giant pastries at The Creamery.

And made sure to get in a bit of father-son R and R!
(top left pic is of James eating his Easter candy as conference happened to fall on Easter weekend)

And of course they visited Temple Square and attended a couple of sessions (2-hour blocks) of Conference with Grandma!!

They made sure to enjoy a delicious lunch/dinner together.

And get some great pics of the beautiful grounds and of course the SLC temple.

What a great weekend and great tradition! I do love being a part of a church and organization that teaches boys to respect their parents, themselves, women as a whole, and life in general. I'm grateful for the many programs and milestones in place to guide them into becoming true men. I'm also grateful for the role model Kevin has been in that process, as an example of service, devotion, and loyalty.

Love you boys and so happy you were able to enjoy this special weekend together!!

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
