mothers day (may 2016)

The next exciting event of May happened to be Mother's Day--so yay for me again;).

The Activity Day Girls (8-11 year-olds) group at church had prepared a little Mother's Day brunch, which was very sweet.

They all helped to bring food to share, and had prepared cards/prizes ahead of time to give to us.

In addition to the Brunch, Mae and I were also able to fit in our annual Girls Day. She had a great time being with her sweet cousins.

And I of course loved spending the time with my mom and sister (too bad Carrie couldn't have been here with us as well!).

On actual Mother's Day, after sleeping in a bit I was greeted by these cool kids who had been busy helping to prepare a special breakfast.

We had a pretty silly time, while we enjoyed the yummy muffins, cinnamon rolls, and omelets--nice work, guys!

I always love seeing the different cards and gifts the kids make for me.

Once breakfast was over, my own mom stopped by ...

And Kevin took us on a quick trip to a local Botanical Garden.

Where we had a really great time together.

And enjoyed all different kinds of species of flowers, plants, trees, etc.

Here are some favorites ...

In the evening, I celebrated being a mother by helping my older kids to make pizza/dinner for all of us;). After which Porter played a little song for me on the guitar. He's just learning and really doesn't play a lot yet, but it was very sweet.

Thanks yet again guys. Definitely a great day!!

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

april 2018 misc.

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
