17th anniversary (july 2016)

Next up for July was mine and Kevin's 17th anniversary!

To celebrate we got away for the night, heading up to Bellevue Place for some fun and relaxation.

We figured this would be a great spot, since lots of shopping and restaurants (and even an urban park and waterfront) are in close walking distance.

First we crossed the street from our hotel for dinner at Maggiano's (http://www.maggianos.com). Pretty sure I had a spiced shrimp bruschetta that was quite delicious!

Special little treat (lemon cookies) for our special occasion.

Then we watched an evening showing of Tarzan.

A quick stop at Frost for some mint hot chocolate and then back to our hotel.

The next morning we slept in (sorta), worked out, and then walked over to the Downtown Bellevue Park (http://www.ci.bellevue.wa.us/downtown_park_and_rose_garden.htm). Makes me laugh that we're in coats and sweaters here--it's July people!!

Then continued our walk down to a hidden waterfront park.

Then for one of my favorite parts of the trip (and favorite places to eat), lunch at Din Tai Fung!! (http://dintaifungusa.com). This place is so amazing. Amazing dumplings and best green beans in the world!

And finally a little window shopping and another stop at Frost for some more sweetness before heading back home to the kiddos.

Thanks, Hon! Such a great anniversary and such an eventful, exciting, crazy, hilarious, maddening, and wonderful 17 years together.

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
