hot day in Seattle???

Admittedly, there were plenty of cloudy, cool days this summer (as seen in my last post) ... more than I would have liked! But we did have some beautiful sunny days as well, and a sunny day here in Seattle (which there are at least a dozen of a year;) is an amazing, absolutely gorgeous thing!

On one such sunny day, we checked out a new splash park not too far from us. Once we found it;), it was a lot of fun. The kids had a great time splashing around, while I attempted to keep Joseph from crawling into all of the high-traffic splash areas.

This picture is obviously not from the splash park, but I thought it was cute and had to include it. Slippery wet boys meet very high metal bars. I think a 10-year-old boy thought up this combination. James, about to get drenched.

Everybody take cover.

There was also a little zip line at the park which was pretty fun. Considering the absence of a hill, though, it did require a decent push to achieve any type of movement. Luckily for Brooks, big brother James was happy to oblige.

There was also quite a bit of non-wet play space, which all the kids enjoyed as much as the wet stuff.

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
