finally, a friend party;)

Brooks had been waiting for a "friend party" for quite a while. For some reason it never seemed to work out or be the right timing. His 7th b-day, though, finally changed that. Admittedly, it was probably not a conventional birthday party. In fact, B's awesome older siblings really ran the whole thing.

They taught Brooks and his friends how to make paper Chinese lanterns.

Led a game of apple smashing--with extremely over-ripe/rotten apples that we had sitting around in the garage.

(The parents may have thought we were a bit crazy, but the kids sure seemed to have fun with it!)

Then Porter and James organized a game of soccer.

 Everyone enjoyed pizza!

Brooks enjoyed some presents!

That is, REALLY enjoyed some presents;).

(Great day for this fantastic kid!)

Then everyone finished off with some fun upstairs.

And tasty ice cream bar cake. Yum!

And as if that weren't enough, Brooks scored a second time, with another small family party.
He got a new fleece blanket from G-ma Loo.

Some other fun prizes.

And a second round of birthday treats. Nice!

Love this smart, funny, silly, thoughtful kid!! Our family wouldn't be the same without him:).

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
