spa-tacular girl!

Okay, so you know once I've posted about K's b-day, Mae's will be quick to follow! The two of them were just 6 days away from sharing a birthday. I'm sure their ideas of a perfect birthday party, however, couldn't be more separate.

Mae's dream for her 9th b-day party was a fun spa-tacular day with her friends!

Complete with spa services ...

And yummy treats--including edible nail-polish bottles ...

and candy-dipped donuts (made from her own little donut maker).

Mae had a great time with her friends!

They got pedicures ...

(those g-mas worked so hard!!)

Made their own flip flops ...

(Cute? Yes. Wearable? No.)

Did chocolate-based facials ...

(some even went all out with rejuvenating cucumber slices)

And made bath salt art to take home.
(Mae and I had fun making the colorful and minty bath salts ourselves)

Mae loved that cousin G got to come!!

Getting presents from many thoughtful friends wasn't bad either:-).

What a great day for this absolutely wonderful 9-year-old.
She is such a fantastic delight to have in our home!!!!

And finally, for my favorite picture of the day ...
The final product:
Lots of cute little painted toenails!!
(and one unpainted set--can you find Joseph's sneaky little feet?;)

Number Five

I've been meaning to update our blog layout with the new family pictures we had taken in November. But since I'm not going to get around to it anytime too soon, I thought I'd include a couple with this post. Aren't ' they cute! The crazy part, though, is that as much as I LOVE these pictures (thanks to McKenzie Goff), they will already be outdated as of September. Here's why ... Dueck baby #5 Arriving September 24 th 2010

april 2018 misc.

And to finish off April, we have ...  Earth-Day excitement! Porter's promposal to this sweet girl!! Which involved singing to her (with his bro. and buddies) in front of about 75 surprised onlookers. Happy Birthday to G-ma Loo:-) And sunny family day at the park ... Looks like the man bun is still going strong!;)

Baby Joseph

Another little miracle, Joseph Benjamin Dueck , arrived in our family September 5 th , 2010 at 3:23pm. Of course, every mom describes the birth of her children as miraculous--I know, I feel that way about each of mine--but in this case Joseph's healthy arrival really did turn out to be something of a miracle. But before I get into the story, I have some catching up to do since I haven't blogged at all about this pregnancy. So ... Here's me on the first day of school which was just two days before Joseph was born. Since I was taking pictures of the kids, James decided I needed one as well. I'm actually glad he did, because I had been meaning to get a picture of my baby "bump" for days if not weeks and hadn't gotten around to it. Of course, I thought I still had plenty of time to make it happen. And just very quickly, I have to throw out some highlights from this pregnancy which for some reason all have to do with Mae ... Mae telling me (during the first tri...
